Christianity Causes Prosperity

Does God care if you are rich or poor?
How are we to view wealth and prosperity
from a Christian Perspective?

Several times over the years I have seen some Christians react negatively to the idea expressed in the title of this article.  Make the claim that living out Christianity will tend to cause all kinds of prosperity

  1. Jon, thanks for the link, and I appreciate very much what you have added to the discussion.

Yes, I, too, have had people suggest that DNA is touting a prosperity gospel but that is not the case. I hope to post some further clarification and elaboration next week at Darrow Miller & Friends.

I think part of the reason for the confusion stems from our failure to see how the Bible begins its big story in Genesis 1 and 2. Too many Christians seem to think that the Bible starts with the curse in Genesis 3! God's comprehensive agenda for His creation must include every dimension of life. That position is further supported, as you alluded, by Colossians 1:19-20, "For God was pleased to have his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross." Romans 8:18-25 is another text very relevant to this discussion.
